Workshop Sedute e seduti for FloraCult
curated by Orianna Impei

For this long-awaited 11th edition, after the pandemic, FloraCult hosts the workshop Sedute e seduti and a contemporary art exhibition, as art breaks in gardens, parks and along nature trails. Places to pause, to reflect and to listen to the voice of silence.
A workshop and exhibition of contemporary art, the result of the established participation of students, lecturers and artists from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome’s School of Sculpture, with the FloraCult exhibition promoted by the entrepreneur Ilaria Venturini Fendi, curated by Antonella Fornai and the landscape architect Francesco Fornai, which since the 2018 and 2019 editions has hosted student artists who have tackled themes related to the relationship with the Elements of Nature and the social sphere.
Also for this edition, the workshop focuses on the use of wood from the Casali del Pino, with which the students of various nationalities from the Sculpture courses of the lecturer and sculptor Oriana Impei, curator of the workshop, and the lecturers Alessandra Porfidia and Patrizia Bisonni, are working, with the theme of the work understood as part of interaction and integration with the public and nature.
The material used for the workshop is linked to the Genius loci, the local pine, which is eco-friendly and recycled, as these are pines that have fallen due to weather events, to which creative flair gives new life, with works that are the beginning of an art trail in a place rich in historical memory, archaeology and unspoilt nature in the north of the Roman countryside.
The twenty-seven students from the three courses of the School of Sculpture are working on the pieces on site, in an open-air workshop, which they will complete on 23/24/25 April from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm during the Floracult Trade Fair, in a workshop on the lawn of the Casali del Pino, among the public, with sculptural installations that interact with the landscape.
The students are supported by eleven artists of various nationalities, in dialogue and in cohesion with the side exhibition Sedute impossibili, curated by Marijcke van Der Maden. All the works are exhibited outdoors on the lawn for direct contact with the landscape and the public.
