Furthermore, thanks to Ministerial Decree 470/2024 of 21 February 2024, AFAM institutions have been allowed to independently award multiple or joint doctoral degrees.
From the 2024/2025 academic year, the Doctorate in Visual Arts Cultures, Practices and Communications will be available, run in partnership with the Academy of Fine Arts in Frosinone and the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence.

The lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome responsible for Research and Doctorates is Prof. Dalma Frascarelli, who is also responsible for the New Media for Communication and Promotion of Artistic Heritage module within the doctorate in Cultural Heritage Sciences.
