The “Linda Pisani” Library of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome
The “Linda Pisani” Library of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome provides services and bibliographic resources to support the institution’s teaching and research activities.
The Library holds more than 13,000 volumes relating to the historical and artistic disciplines taught at the Academy of Fine Arts. Resources on the history of art, design, set design, editorial design, the visual arts, audiovisual media, photography, fashion design, theatrical literature, cinema, architecture, museology and art education are available for consultation.
The collection also includes around 200 discontinued print periodicals, some of which were published as early as the beginning of the 20th century. These are European magazines on art history, architecture, visual arts, design, literature and aesthetics.
The Library is named after Professor Linda Pisani, formerly a lecturer in Cultural Heritage at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and a scholar of Tuscan art from the late Gothic and Renaissance periods. Her personal library, donated by her family, constitutes a personal book collection that reflects her interests and professional activities.
The Library is open to both internal and external users, subject to registration with the Library staff.
The Library provides institutional users with digital, bibliographic and citation databases, which give access to thousands of online resources in the fields of visual arts and fashion design, as well as subscription-based electronic journals.
External users can access the databases from dedicated workstations in the reading room using a “guest” account.
Digital subscriptions are available to the journals Flash Art International, Flash Art Italia, Frieze, Mousse and Neural, to the JSTOR academic digital library, to the ProQuest One Visual Arts & Design platform, and to the Ebsco Art & Architecture Source, Ebsco Textile Technology Complete and Ebsco Ebook Collection databases.
The Library is part of the National Library Service and is included in the Catalogue of the SBN RMS Centre.
