Germano Celant

Dear Colleagues,

For all of us who love art and place it at the centre of our lives, the sudden passing of Germano Celant, our most internationally renowned art critic and theorist, is truly a great loss. In addition to the extraordinary intuition that led him to create Arte Povera, we cannot forget his deep interest in a pluralistic vision of Italian creativity, which was well represented in one of the most significant exhibitions he curated, “Italian Metamorphosis 1943-1968”, presented at the Guggenheim in New York in 1994. Celant’s unwavering focus on the quality of artistic research and his pluralism can, mutatis mutandis, also serve as an exemplary model for the educational and operational path of our Academy.
