Educating about exhibitions | Educating about the city
ONLINE MEETINGS ON MUSEUMS AND EXHIBITIONS, IN-DEPTH STUDIES FOR A REASONED INTERPRETATION OF THE HISTORY OF THE CITY FROM THE CENTRE TO THE SUBURBS.
Educating about exhibitions, educating about the city, now in its tenth edition, offers from February to May 2021 a wide range of meetings on exhibitions, museums, the local area, and in-depth studies on historical, artistic, social or scientific themes, for a reasoned interpretation of the history of Rome from the centre to the suburbs.
This year, our shared workshop moves online, to a virtual space where museum directors, curators, scholars and university lecturers continue to offer experiences and analysis, in a programme that deliberately mixes and integrates humanistic and scientific knowledge. The objective, given the initiative’s success with the public, is to make the talks an opportunity for knowledge and enrichment, not only for students and professors but also for a wider audience.
Conceived with the aim of facilitating and deepening interdisciplinary dialogue (between art and science, sociology and urban planning, restoration and history), the programme is realised thanks to networking with other institutions: the Libraries of Rome, the Library of Modern and Contemporary History, the Department of History, Anthropology, Religions, Art and Performing Arts of La Sapienza University, the Degree Course in Cultural Heritage of the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy of the Tor Vergata University of Rome, the Department of Architecture of Roma Tre, the Academy of Fine Arts, the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, the Istituto Luce, Cinecittà and the Società Italiana delle Storiche.
The meetings will take place online on the Google Suite platform and will, as always, be open to all interested parties. A section will be reserved for discussion with the speakers, in the spirit of dialogue that underpins the initiative.
As soon as possible, we will return to meet together in the various places that have always hosted the Educare events, stimulating knowledge and visits to the city’s well-known and lesser-known cultural spaces.
