The volume and video Punto di arrivo nel nuovo mondo – percorsi d’arte contemporanea, a review by Oriana Impei, sculptor and lecturer in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, will be presented in the Aula Magna of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
The event originated as an “artistic production project” of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, School of Sculpture, and is promoted by the two-year course in Environmental Sculpture and Lapis Tiburtinus , with which the coordinator Prof. Impei has been creating art itineraries in nature, in the parks and reserves of the Lazio Region and in Italy for over ten years. The project was supported by Dr Isabella Del Frate, Art Historian of the MIC Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Province of Viterbo and Southern Etruria.
The event is organised in collaboration with the Municipality of Sant’Oreste, Department of Culture, with the Bunker Soratte Association, the Centre for the Promotion of Roman Travertine, which donated the travertine blocks; the Avventura Soratte Association. The project has obtained the patronage of the Lazio Region, theOrder of Architects PPC of Rome and Province with their collaboration and the participation of the president Alessandro Panci in an important conference on the recovery of bunkers and disused quarries, and with the speakers architect Achille Maria Ippolito, professor at the Sapienza University of Rome, and the architect Virna Mastrangelo of the AIAPP Lazio section, with her patronage, and the RomaNatura Regional Authority.
The exhibition, which lasted for fifteen days at the beginning of summer, saw the students of the Sculpture course taught by Prof. Oriana Impei on sculptural works, permanently installed on the Memory Trail and the Life Trail; as well as Street Art works on two Enel substations in the town, created by students of Graphic Art, under the guidance of Prof. Ferdinando Fedele. These works have created an extensive art trail that involves the entire town.
There was no shortage of ephemeral art in nature interventions. Alongside the symposium, contemporary works of art were exhibited in the rooms of Palazzo Caccia-Canali.
The exhibition also featured students of Multimedia Arts and History of Contemporary Art, enrolled in the course taught by Prof. Ada Lombardi and of Painting with Prof. Veronica Piraccini, an artist who exhibited one of her evocative paintings in the Bunker Soratte galleries; the latter was another exhibition venue for the works and performances of the students of Video Sculpture taught by Prof. Paolo Canevari an artist who exhibited one of his works at the entrance to the bunker hall, while outside in the square, Oriana Impei temporarily installed one of her sculptures.
Inside the Bunker Galleries and in the Palazzo Caccia-Canali, the artists who supported the creation of the exhibition, Fabiola Cenci and Emanuele Marsigliotti, exhibited their works. Numerous artists, poets and musicians participated in the project, all leaving an indelible mark, both in the memory of those who took part in the event and in the description of the publication presented.
For this project, too, it was decided to invite a group of students from upper secondary schools, as a form of orientation from secondary school to the Academy. The Luca Paciolo Artistic Secondary School in Anguillara Sabazia, coordinated by teachers Viviana Ravaioli and Patrizia Santoro, exhibited a large installation in the Sala Giorgio Fregosi of the Monumental Complex of the Municipality of Sant’Oreste.
Monte Soratte has therefore become a stage for hosting permanent works inspired by nature and the theme of memory.

Testimonies of the places that have been transformed into pictorial and sculptural marks, carved on stone, Roman Travertine and Bomarzo Peperino, and on Art in nature, which interact with the “art forest” and the two Enel substations embellished with murals; all through the artistic voices of lecturers, students and artists of various nationalities.
The presentation at the Academy is attended by teachers, students, artists, professionals, specialists and authorities who have promoted and collaborated in the creation of the exhibition. Among the artists who took part in the events were the poets Claudio Monachesi and Nicla Ballini, the musicians Theo Allegretti, Giovanni Cernicchiaro and Francesca Romana Iorio, the dancer-choreographer Benedetta Capanna with the special participation of her young son Angelo, the cellist Daria Rossi Poisa, and the percussionist Ivan Macera. The works in Sant’Oreste at the foot of Monte Soratte are freely visible along the itineraries in nature, in the town and among our history.
All the student artists are described extensively in the publication produced by the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and the publishing house Gangemi Editore. As part of the presentation, an exhibition of art photographs taken in Sant’Oreste during the exhibition by the student on the Photography course, Denise Capasso, and the video ECHOS created by the Multimedia Arts students will be screened, concluding with the video of the exhibition, edited by students Antonio Giovannercole and Denise Capasso.
