Screening of the film “Made in Jail – indossa la libertà”

Art as a form of expression and inspiration often arises in unexpected places. For 35 years, the Made in Jail Association has been helping prisoners reintegrate into the social, cultural and working fabric through its screen-printing courses in prison.
Over many years of activity, Made in Jail, with its course participants, has created artistic works but also well-known T-shirts that have become iconic and have been displayed in numerous prestigious exhibitions, both nationally and internationally.
The Academy of Fine Arts in Rome has scheduled a Screen Printing Workshop lasting three days, conducted together with Made in Jail and in particular its founder, Silvio Palermo, which will take place next February 2024 for students on the Screen Printing Course taught by Prof. Marilena Sutera.
Students on the Photography and Video course will also take part in the Workshop with the “Controcampo” Video Production workshop led by Valerio Sammartino, Simone Valente and Alessio Rucchetta from the company Monkeys VideoLab, who will produce a filmed record of the workshop days.
The Workshop also includes, as an introductory event open to all students, the screening of the documentary film on the history of Made in Jail and its message of redemption through art. The film “Made in Jail indossa la libertà” was produced by the communication company Numidio and will be screened on Monday 22 January 2024 at 3:00 pm in the Great Hall of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in Via di Ripetta, 222 – 00186 Rome.
In addition, Made in Jail will display the books of the exhibitions held over the years and the artistic creations (works using the screen-printing technique, T-shirts and sweatshirts) produced in 35 years of training activity in prison.
