The actress Francesca Baglioni will perform Franca Rame’s monologue “Lo stupro”, 1977

At what point is the civilisation of respect for women? Halfway there.
Despite important legal and cultural achievements, physical and moral violence, as well as femicides, are the order of the day.
Why?
One might think: in the minds of too many men, the inhuman law of the oppression of the other sex still applies. That’s true, but it’s not the only horror. In truth, in the minds of many, too many other people, a clear vision on the matter has not yet developed. Even if they are not violent, all of these people are accomplices.

A criminal is a criminal. But then there is the “grey area”.. It is made up of all those who, while declaring themselves to be against any violence, when faced with a real and concrete tragedy, at the moment when it is necessary to take a clear position and come to the aid of the victim, adopt mental subterfuge to justify the violence in some way. It is the civilisation of hypocrisy, the one that creates a second, more hidden but decisive violence: it weaves those invisible threads that keep the civilisation of violence standing, feeding it underground with lies.
Against these two forms of violence, direct and indirect, the Academy of Fine Arts’ conference “Sorella, io ti credo” aims to make its contribution to raising awareness in the fight against violence and lies.

At 6:30 pm, the exhibition entitled “Oltre la Violenza” will be inaugurated at the independent space Albumarte in Via Flaminia 122, which is active in the field of contemporary art and on the frontline of the study and denunciation of gender-based violence.
The exhibition, curated by Miriana Pistillo, presents, among photographs and performances, works inspired by the theme of violence against women. Students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome collaborated on the installation.
