The book stubbornly survives the digital revolutions, economic crises and market laws that should have made it an obsolete object long ago; it has now withstood a traumatising pandemic, offering itself as a friendly refuge in the isolation and hardship of living. Over the centuries, the book has remained the same, but it has never stopped reinventing itself, transforming itself, changing in its material aspect and in its aspirations.
It has become an Artist’s Book by adopting new materials, to cross the vast realms of visual and conceptual communication. It has become a book that is both object and subject, capable of actively interacting with those who create it, observe it and question it.
This is the very rich terrain explored by IL LIBRO HA RADICI E SEMI, conceived as a “natural” project. Natural in terms of the chosen theme, because today the need to rebuild a relationship with Nature is emerging as the most urgent collective debate of the contemporary world, which must be translated into gestures, forms and actions to reconcile culture and nature. At the same time, it is natural as a process, since the project was cultivated together across geographical distances, to imagine and seek new visions, over a long period of dedicated and shared work, during which the ideas and emotions of a group composed, in the various creative workshops, of teachers and students took shape.
In order to protect the safety and health of visitors and staff, it is mandatory to wear a mask and maintain an interpersonal distance of at least 1 metre within the spaces. It is recommended to sanitise your hands using the special disinfectant gel dispensers.
