Fare un museo – Directors in the Academy, 2019. A series of meetings

How are museums changing? Form, content, spaces, governance, horizons, vocations, traditions and innovations: a composite panorama, with an important role in the social context and in the contemporary cultural debate, which a series of meetings attempts to explore, engaging with the directors of some of Italy’s major museums.
“FARE UN MUSEO. DIRETTORI IN ACCADEMIA”, a series that began in 2018 – promoted by the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, from an idea by Prof. Tiziana Musi, coordinator of the Department of Communication and Art Education – returns for the second year in a row with 6 new events. Collections, exhibitions, installations, target audiences, digitalisation processes, new technologies, services, publishing and education, with a special focus on the aspect of communication: a series of topics to reflect on, in dialogue with teachers, critics and scholars.
Increasingly seen as places of inclusion, open to communities, museums – including institutions with a historical focus and spaces for the contemporary – continue to renew and rethink themselves, being in turn at the centre of a critical discussion that, especially abroad, offers insights of great importance for the entire art system. From exhibition projects to reflection on museum architecture, via the complex work of building the museum’s image and disseminating its contents: how does a museum grow and how is it presented today?
It starts on 19 March 2019 with Andrea Viliani, General Director of the Donnaregina Foundation and the Madre Museum in Naples, and with Diana Baldon, General Director of the Visual Arts Foundation of Modena. Joining them in dialogue will be Tiziana D’Acchille, Director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, and lecturers Tiziana Musi, Dario Evola, Gabriella Bernardini and Cecilia Casorati.
