The Academy of Fine Arts of Rome wins the “BPER Banca” Ideas Competition for the 2020 Strega Prize final
It was a student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, Sofia Felice, in the second year of the Painting Course, Velletri branch, who won the competition, linked to the prestigious Strega Prize, for the design and creation of the sketch for the trophy, given to the six finalists on the final evening of the literary competition, held at the Ninfeo di Valle Giulia on 3 July.
Since 2018, the Bellonci Foundation – Strega Prize, in collaboration with BPER Banca, with the aim of fostering cultural cross-fertilisation between literature and art, has introduced an award for the five authors who are finalists for the Strega Prize.
In this regard, a competition of ideas was organised for students of the main Italian academies of fine arts for the creation of a sculptural work.
After her sketch was selected, Sofia Felice created the piece, an “S”, the symbol of the “Strega” logo, accompanied by a fountain pen in a fitting formal synthesis, using bronze resins for the sculpture and white resins for the base. The piece conveys a “simple and direct vision” of the concepts required by the competition.
