The Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and the Municipality of Vitorchiano are continuing the project of art itineraries in nature, and on Monday 13 May, the International Peperino Sculpture Symposium will begin in Vitorchiano.
The sculptural sketches created and exhibited at the Auditorium of the former Church of Sant’Agnese from 3 May to 30 June 2024 will take shape during the sculpture symposium from 13 to 18 May 2024, sculpted by the students of the School of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
It will therefore be possible to observe the creation of the sculptural works live, publicly and directly on site at Largo Padre Ettore Salimbeni Vitorchiano (VT), under the gaze of the Moai. As in the previous 2023 edition, the students will be guided by the sculptor and professor Oriana Impei, curator of the workshop, and for this edition by the two invited guests: Guglielmo Vecchietti Massacci and Isabel Permanyer.
The initiative aims to promote the landscape through the art of sculpture and the local volcanic stone, peperino. The stone blocks will be donated by the Peperino Extraction Centre and the Santafiora Company. In addition to the contemporary art exhibition, the event also includes a workshop on sculpture and a conference and exhibition with an educational focus, illustrated by the two distinguished guests invited:
