The typographic animation workshop with After Effects, led by Motion Designer Enrico Gisana and organised by Prof. Cristina Chiappini, introduces students to the world of animated typography through advanced use of the Adobe After Effects software.

During the workshop days, participants will explore tools and techniques for bringing text to life: from keyframe interpolation to advanced layer properties and text animation, to morphing and fine-tuning motion curves using the Graphic Editor and “easy ease” Bezier curves.

A specific focus will be dedicated to the creation of loop animations, to learn how to manage a cyclical workflow, which is fundamental for the design of animated banners for the web, TV theme songs and animated logos.

The workshop takes the form of a laboratory: before it starts, students will send in proposals and ideas on which tailor-made exercises will be built. The days will alternate between theoretical explanations and review sessions, fostering practical and personalised learning.

Bio:
Enrico Gisana is a graphic and motion designer with a solid background and a recognisable design style, focused on typography, animation and visual experimentation. He graduated in Graphic Design from the IED in Milan and has collaborated with various creative companies in Milan and Sicily, where he currently lives and works.

Since 2020, he has been a lecturer in Motion Design at the Abadir Academy of Design and Visual Communication, and regularly holds workshops at numerous Italian institutions, including the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, Frosinone, Bauer and the University of the Republic of San Marino.

In 2021, he founded GG—OFFICE, a graphic and motion design studio based in Modica. His animations have been selected in two editions of the DEMO Festival in Amsterdam, organised by Studio Dumbar, and published in Slanted Magazine No. 40, dedicated to experimental typography.

In his approach to teaching, he combines technical precision and visual imagination, with a particular focus on the advanced use of After Effects and the narrative potential of moving typography. His workshops aim to stimulate students’ design skills through exercises that combine theory, experimentation and critical discussion.
