On Monday 7 – Tuesday 8 – Saturday 12 April, the workshop curated by Prof. Tania Campisi, “The future behind us”, will take place for students enrolled on the three-year and two-year Graphic Arts courses.
For three days, students will be able to engage with the writer Lisa Ginzburg. The workshop will be a shared reflection on the future, starting with Paul Klee’s painting, Angelus Novus. A discussion on the notion of the ‘future’ separated from its darkest and most pessimistic interpretations. Participants will be asked to each find a word to inspire their work, so as to build together a “Lexicon for a possible new future”. The first day will begin with the presentation of the workshop and the discussion with the writer. The technical/artistic guidelines to be followed will be given, and the first sketches will begin. On the second day, the drawings will be processed and the first prints will be made using the monotype technique. On the third day, the printing phase will be completed and there will be a group critical session on the work carried out and the results obtained. At the end, an artist’s portfolio will be produced in a limited edition of 3 copies.
