Performing Media is a field of research that has its origins in the field of digital cultures and, even earlier, in experimental theatre adapted to the media – a phenomenon that has since extended to the most diverse forms, between performance and multimedia. Today, performing media increasingly concerns the anthropological condition resulting from the development of enabling technologies, which are themselves performing, of new interactive, mobile and geolocalised media in a performing media storytelling that, with geopodcasts and artificial intelligence, makes “human landscapes” speak.
Programme:
Morning – Lecture with web screening on the different expressions of Performing Media (video theatre, interaction design, cyber performance, artificial intelligence). Points of development: Happening, Fluxus, Post-Avant-Garde, video theatre and new stage writing.
The simulation of the virtual; from Artificial Reality to the Metaverse. Cyber-performance, from cyberpunk radicalism to artivism. Interaction design.
Human-machine interaction. Videomapping and Light Experience. Psychogeography and Performing Media Storytelling: Human Landscapes.
Exploration to tackle a territorial context (Tordinona, from the experience of the “Asino che vola” (“Flying Donkey”), of which an emblematic mural remains as an emblem, to the “Oculus”, a utopian project of tactical urbanism to regain the relationship with the Tiber, and then the Chiostro San Salvatore in Lauro, for a focus on Performing Media Storytelling on Christina of Sweden), based on a methodology of “learning everywhere” (looking around, collecting stories along the way) implemented in walkabouts (participatory radio-nomadic explorations).
Instant report to capture information and images produced along the experiential journey with photos to be shared on social media.
Afternoon – At 3:30 pm, the talk-event on the booklet “Performing Media – un futuro remoto. Il percorso di Carlo Infante tra Memoria dell’Avanguardia e Transizione Digitale”
(Editoria & Spettacolo, 2022) curated by Gaia Riposati and Massimo Di Leo.
