Designing sound installations
Workshop with Roberto Pugliese
Roberto Pugliese’s workshop is aimed at students enrolled in the two-year course of the School of New Technologies for Art, with the aim of providing participants with the basic knowledge for the design and creation of installations, sculptures and sound environments, whether or not associated with the visual world, in different multimedia contexts and in different ways. The students will work on the design of a sound installation in all its phases, drawing on Pugliese’s twenty years of experience in the field of visual-sound experimentation, as well as in research and teaching.
The lecture on Thursday 11 January 2024 is aimed at a wider audience of students. On this occasion, Pugliese provides an overview of the different roles of sound in the field of the arts, starting from his career in sound art as well as in kinetic and programmed art. Using mechanical equipment controlled by software that interacts with each other, with the surrounding environment and with the user, Pugliese examines new research points on phenomena related to sound, on the relationship between man and technology and on the relationship between art and technology, often including the visual component.
