This year, the CGIL – the Italian General Confederation of Labour – has organised a competition entitled “The future of work”, aimed exclusively at students of state academies of fine arts, for the creation of the 2026 membership card, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of its foundation.

“Art is an expression of freedom, and for those who wish to retrace the meaning of our history spanning more than a century, there is nothing more effective than the insights that works of art can offer about the present and about choices for the future.”

The competition provides for the award of cash prizes to the top three winners, which will be presented during an award ceremony in the presence of the Secretary General of the CGIL Maurizio Landini and the jury on Wednesday 24 September at 10:00 am, at the site of the National CGIL, in Corso d’Italia 25.

The competition jury awarded the prizes to the following artists:

1st prize to Mariapia Santoro

2nd prize jointly to Zhang Chongyang and Eleonora Rossi

3rd prize jointly to Marta Marchio and Elena Quadri

Among the winners are two students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome: Eleonora Rossi and Marta Marchio, whose winning works will become part of the Art Collection of the National CGIL, will be exhibited at the national headquarters and published on the Art Collection website.

Below, in order, are the entries by Eleonora Rossi, winner of the second prize, and Marta Marchio, winner of the third prize:
