The Gianni Borgna Award, named after the key figure in Rome’s cultural life and the city’s Councillor for Culture from 1993 to 2006, was established with the aim of engaging young photographers aged between 18 and 30 in portraying the city through their eyes.
For the 2025 edition, Caterina Ruggeri, who graduated in Photography and Video and is currently enrolled in the two-year course in Audiovisual Theory and Techniques at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, was selected for her photograph “Lost in the Time of Frenzy”, which won first prize.
Organised by the Visioneroma Association and promoted by the Department of Culture of Roma Capitale and Azienda Speciale Palaexpo, in collaboration with Studio Bottoni, the photography competition dedicated to the city offers the selected projects the opportunity to be exhibited in the largest exhibition space in the centre of Rome.
The theme of this edition is Rome as experienced: participants were invited to “explore the relationship between urban landscapes and landscapes of the soul, between the monumental character of the city centre and the suburbs that Pier Paolo Pasolini so often transformed into stories”.
The selected photographs will be on display at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, in the Sala Fontana, until 29 January 2026, with free admission.
