Opening hours of the exhibition in the description

From 11 November to 7 December 2023, the Istituto di Studi Romani presents the exhibition Marina Bindella and Roberto Piloni. Una doppia moltitudine, an exhibition curated by Marco Rinaldi and Claudio Zambianchi.

The exhibition, designed specifically for the Institute’s spaces, consists of 14 works, displayed on the walls, which are formally and poetically related, and 2 site-specific installations, which establish a close dialogue between the two artists. In addition, several works on paper will be housed in the 4 display cases and on a wooden table.
The exhibition unfolds along the three large corridors of the Institute to form a U and is completed by a room with a frescoed ceiling, which opens onto one of the corridors. Marina Bindella and Roberto Piloni conduct, with different expressive means, a careful and constant research, whose affinity is not limited to the use of an abstract language, but revolves around the question of light and focuses on the relationship between the sign and the medium, between the white of the paper and the black of the sign trace. The two artists work on rhythm, repetitions and variations, starting from the microcosm of marks and extending to the whole image. In the world of Bindella and Piloni, moreover, although in different (and often ironic) ways, there is a sense of the memory of the natural world, which can be perceived in the alternation of light and shadow and in the processes of aggregation and rarefaction, stasis and movement.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue published by Editoriale Artemide with the contribution of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, with texts by Marco Rinaldi and Claudio Zambianchi.
The exhibition project also includes an event dedicated to the students of the academic courses of Marina Bindella and Roberto Piloni: three editions will be exhibited, produced in as many workshops dedicated to the history of Rome, inspired by the institution hosting the event, the Istituto di Studi Romani.

Marina Bindella lives and works in Rome. The focus of her graphic and pictorial work is the generative potential of marks, their dynamic capabilities, and the light and vibration of the surface that construct space. Her solo exhibitions in recent years include those at the MLAC of La Sapienza University in Rome, at the Castelvecchio Museum in Verona and at the Istituto Centrale per la Grafica in Rome. He has taken part in the most important international graphic design exhibitions, winning numerous awards. She is a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.

Roberto Piloni lives and works in Rome. For years, he has been conducting his research towards a design approach that considers the relationship between space and the installed work to be increasingly important, using different media, from painting to graphics, from photography to video to installations. He has held many solo and group exhibitions in public and private spaces, both in Italy and abroad. He is currently a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
