From the text in the catalogue:
Dear visitors,
There are so many of you, every day, keeping us company or rushing in search of the right platform.
We thank you and want to show our gratitude with this project, which aims to tell you about the beauty of the thoughts and emotions of young talents who, like you, like us, have experienced and are experiencing this place.
“Visioni d’istanti” is a public art exhibition that is part of the redevelopment plan for our station, the largest in Italy.
Stations were, are and will be: places of departures, arrivals, waiting, farewells, shopping, meetings, moments that remain indelible in our memories.
It has been complex, the time is difficult, but it has given us the opportunity to experience exceptional cooperation, to go beyond limits. Many of us have worked together and we want to share the emotion we felt by collaborating united and thinking of you, here, in this station which today is also an unprecedented exhibition space and an opportunity for visibility and meeting for our young people, for our artists. It is a message of hope for the future, for everyone. We may slow down, but we will not stop travelling, and while we wait to do so again in full, we offer you these splendid works: look at them, read them, they speak of all of us.
And imagine your new station, imagine your future.
THE EXHIBITION
“Try to imagine it in your mind, that station, to give it concrete shape and colour” Haruki Murakami
The young artists who took part in this journey have imbued their anticipation with the strong and powerful evocation of Roma Termini. The magic of their story has produced these visions that fill the eyes, nourishing the soul with lines, colours, shapes and signs that manifest themselves on the surfaces, accompanying travellers as they stay in and pass through this space, representing the before, the after and the during of a piece of existence.
Stories of young artists who confide in us through their seeing and feeling that they share common dreams. These works were conceived for a process of creation that belongs to our present, far removed from a process that involves the hands but which, in its making, returns the warmth of the gaze.
