From 22 October to 17 November 2018, the historic Colleoni Hall in Via di Ripetta hosts “Borromini as seen by young Romans”: on display are the works of students from the Sapienza University and the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, created for the video-photographic competition dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the death of Francesco Borromini. They were chosen by a jury of professionals, chaired by the well-known architect Paolo Portoghesi.
The participants were asked to re-read, document and interpret, through video and photography, the volumes, details, perspectives, stories and inspirations that make up the extraordinary legacy of an architect who was a cultured pioneer and a bold innovator: with his enveloping and dynamic style, marked by the sweetness of undulating movements and the harmonious intersection of volumes, he combined daring perspectives, spiritual tension and an intention that was more meditative than spectacular.
Being able to translate all this into images is the challenge proposed to the students, as an opportunity for historical and artistic study and creative production.
The event is part of the calendar of RAW – Rome Art Week, the Roman autumn week dedicated to the coordinated openings of exhibition spaces, museums and cultural venues.
